How to Spend a November Day in Windermere

November is one of the quieter months in the Lake District. But it is also one of the most underrated times of year to spend enjoying the beautiful National Park.

We want to share with you our perfect day, spent in and around Windermere on a crisp November day.

10 am – Any good day begins at Homeground Coffee + Kitchen in central Windermere. Cosy up, settle in and order your favourite coffee whilst enjoying one of the many tempting brunch options from their seasonal menu. Watch the world go by, and fuel up for the day ahead.

11.30am – Time for a walk. Wrap up warm and make for Orrest Head, one of Windermere’s most iconic walks. From the summit, on a clear day, you can see the length of Lake Windermere, and out towards to Irish sea. There is an accessible route suitable for wheelchairs and prams so the whole family can join. Take your time and enjoy the views.

1pm – Dropping back into town, it’s time for a spot of shopping. Explore a wide range of shops selling boutique gifts, local art and unique homeware and beauty. You’re bound to find something to take home as well as gifts for the whole family.

3.30pm – In our opinion, the best way to warm up on a dark afternoon requires cocktails. Make your way to Brown Sugar in the centre of town. Order a selection of nibbles and while away the late afternoon.

5pm – Dinner time! Make your way to San Pietro down birch street and treat yourself to an Italian Feast. With a delicious menu including arancini balls, seafood linguine and duck leg confit, soak up the traditional atmosphere and enjoy a good bottle of wine!

Now you have the perfect itinerary, it’s time to find the perfect accommodation. We have several properties in Windermere, to suit every individual or group.
