Other things to note

Pattinson House is a block of 6 contemporary studios based in the heart of Bowness village. The building is named after its original builder George Pattinson, who was a local builder and boat collector.
The Pattinson family are responsible for constructing many of Windermere’s landmark properties, such as the Windermere Hotel, Windermere Station, St Mary’s Church and the Belsfield Hotel.
The Pattinson family were innovative and radical builders by the standards of the time, the construction of Windermere train station opened the doors for tourists to explore the beautiful Lake District for the first time. This was met with some resistance by locals who did not want to share their beloved Lakes with outsiders.
The 6 suites are all named after George Pattison’s beloved steamboat collection, which he sailed on Lake Windermere.

a tasty welcome ...

The name alone conjures whimsical watercolour sketches of cheeky rabbits scampering about Mr McGregor’s garden, puffing steamers and Swallows and Amazons childhood adventures. From delicious regional fare to exciting water sports adventures, Windermere and Bowness is the vibrant capital, the energetically beating heart at the centre of the Lake District. Whether glimpsing England’s longest lake from the top of Orrest Head or from Millerground on its eastern shore, the softly lapping waters of Windermere are iconic and have come to symbolise the natural beauty and grandeur of the Lake District National Park. If you can only make one call on a whistle-stop tour of the Lake District, best make it here.
